The University of Westminster boasts a rich history, and has been providing students with academic excellence, cultural engagement and personal enrichment since its inception in 1838 as the Royal Polytechnic Institution. Westminster continues to provide industry-relevant programmes as well as practical and professionally focused education in the heart of London. Westminster has a hugely diverse student and staff community, and are home to more than 19,000 students from around 165 nations. The University has strong industry links with over 183 industry partners including large corporates, SMEs and charities, offering placements and work experience opportunities to our students.
Global Ranking
The University of Westminster is ranked sixth in the UK and 20th in the world for ‘International Students’ in the 2021 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, keeping to its reputation as one of the most diverse and international universities in the UK. The University has consistently enjoyed excellent ratings both in the UK and globally for its international focus. It has ranked eighth in the UK and 25th in the world for ‘International Students’ in the QS World University Rankings 2021, and in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2020 it has held its place ranking fourth in the UK and 32nd globally for ‘International Outlook.

Westminster Business School is one of London’s leading centres for professional business education. Offering a wide range of innovative and practice focused programmes including MBA, professional and executive education courses. The School has a large and diverse academic body with extensive business, consultancy and research achievements. Accredited by leading professional bodies and collaborating in numerous international partnerships, the School engages in providing business expertise in consultancy, applied research and thought leadership to the industry. Westminster Business School continues to be committed to supporting organisational success.
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: comprising of the Schools of Humanities, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Westminster Law School, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is making a difference. Westminster Law School is one of London’s leading providers of legal education, offering an extremely wide range of practically orientated courses in Law which are accepted by a range of professional bodies such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Bar Standards Board and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. We have strong links with the legal profession and organise the Law Society’s annual London Law Fair. Multicultural and multidisciplinary, Westminster prepares our students critically, creatively and professionally: students can learn a language, study abroad, engage with the public at our Difference Festival and gain practical experience via the Legal Advice Clinic or Democratic Education Network.
